Biography:

Joanna Cargill was always looking for stability in her life, a place where she could belong. It wasn’t when she was young, as her father abusiveness constantly reminded her. Nor did she discover it with the Alliance of Evil under Apocalypse’s employ. Her time with the Acolytes was close, but it unraveled before her eyes and the team was disbanded. It was ironic that when she finally found it, as the wife of Scott Summers, it ended up being a perverse dream created by Legion during the Age of X incident. So strong was that feeling of belonging, that she refused to have her memories deleted of the incident even though almost everyone else did.

During a raid of one of Mr. Sinister’s abandoned labs, the X-Men team she was on found a treasure trove of DNA storage that the mad doctor had kept. Joanna discovered a cryo chamber that contained some frozen sperm and egg samples from various mutants over the years, one of which was labeled Scott Summers. Suddenly, an alarm was tripped and the lab went into meltdown mode. Hastily, she grabbed some of the samples including Scott’s before exiting the lab before it imploded (WatX #36). After some research, she took the samples to a clinic that specializes with In Vitro Fertilization. Out of all the samples she grabbed the only viable one belonged to Jean-Paul Beaubier not Scott Summers as she had hoped. She decided to still undergo the procedure, but kept the ‘donor’ identity a secret (WatX Annual #3). Nine months later, she gave birth to healthy twin girls, Raquel and Rakelle (X-Men Unlimited vol. 3 #7). In the course of raising the children, Joanna, after years of searching, finally found a place where she belonged.

Raquel and Rakelle were as different as identical twins could be. Raquel was adventurous and full of curiosity and always wanted to be a hero. Rakelle was more withdrawn and always felt more comfortable in her sister’s shadow. Raquel was human and Rakelle was a mutant. While it was hard to accept at first, Joanna surprised even herself and loved them both unconditionally.

On their fourteenth birthday, the twins were doing some shopping in Manhattan, when a fight broke out between Ms. Marvel and Juggernaut-Venom. During the course of it, Ms Marvel was thrown through the building they were next to, the debris rained down on top of them. Raquel pushed her sister out of the way at the last second, but was herself buried under the falling rubble. Picking herself up, Rakelle saw her sister’s hand sticking up out of the rubble. She rushed over screaming and tried to lift it off her sister. Arms aching, she picked up and tossed the stone object behind her. Raquel’s breathing was ragged, her clothes torn, and blood was flowing too freely from her wounds. The debris crashed against Juggernaut-Venom, who then turned towards the twins and swung his massive arms down on them. He was knocked away by Ms. Marvel just before he could smash them. Ms. Marvel recognized the twins and in a strong voice told Rakelle to take her sister and get somewhere safe, then charged the villain. Crying, Rakelle stood up with her twin in her arms and meakly told Raquel that they she was going to be fine. Her sister so felt light as she started to walk as fast as she could. The blood wasn’t stopping, so she hurried her step and began to run. She had to go faster, to get Raquel to safety. Less than five minutes later, she kicked open the doors to Jean Grey’s School of Higher Learning and shouted for help. Rakelle’s socks and shoes had disintegrated and the bottom of her feet was bloody. Once the Logan took Raquel from her arms, the pain from her legs assaulted her and she lost consciousness.

Rakelle woke up in the infirmary. Joanna hugged her fiercely, with tears in her eyes. When she asked if Raquel was alright, her mother, Logan and the other staff looked down and then she saw the sheet covered body in the corner. Raquel was dead (Ms. Marvel #166).

The incident changed Rakelle. She became more withdrawn, barely speaking to anyone. When classes were over, she would disappear and retreat to her sister’s secret spot on the grounds. One day as she was re-reading her sister favorite book for the umpteenth time, a football bounced off a nearby tree and came to stop at her feet. Her classmates, Henrietta da Costa and James Guthrie-Maximoff, appeared blaming the other for bad aim. She handed them the ball, but they would not leave. Instead, they sat down by her and started to chat with her. While she barely stated anything, Rakelle felt slightly annoyed by their intrusion, and yet a small part of her welcomed it (WatX #206). It took time, but the three of them became good friends and she began to grow out her withdrawn state.

Rakelle choose the codename Solidstreak after finding an old drawing her sister had done as a kid of their family as heroes. It was the name Raquel had given her, and while others think it is cheesy, she feels it honors her sister memory.

During her schooling, she took a liking to drawing and painting landscapes.

NOTE: Borrowed one of :iconblu-berri:'s characters, Sharpshoot, for the biography.

Another entry for CBR x-group forum's Draw me an X jam. This time I had the offspring of Northstar and Frenzy. Rakelle's uniform came about after paying around with Jim Lee's basic X-Men uniform from the 90's.

I like this character idea.
Especially how Frenzy (the new snarky badass of the X-Men, since Wolverine became a softy teacher) could get children.
With Northstar of all people...
However, Rakelle got a nice, detailed backstory.
